Loose wheels have been a major concern with the Next Gen car in multiple races to start the 2022 season. Last week, two-time Cup Series-winning crew chief Adam Stevens, who works with Christopher Bell, suggested on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio that it wasn’t a mechanical issue, but a human issue.
This week, 2021 Cup Series-winning crew chief Cliff Daniels appeared on the same station and had a very different response on the subject. In his comments, Daniels absolutely blistered NASCAR for the loose wheels, indicating it wasn’t from human error, but faulty equipment. And then he said NASCAR’s current resolution of suspending crew chiefs and two team members for four races isn’t the solution, but is only making the problem worse and more dangerous for everyone, including the fans.
